Renovation of the private hair salon UnowN. in Yokohama, located on the ground floor of a small, aging two-story apartment building near Kamiooka Station.

The aim was to create an environment where the hairdresser and client could meet face-to-face in a one-on-one relationship, while also allowing moments for each person’s attention to drift.

The first design move was to consolidate the water area (toilet, shampoo stand, and color sinks) toward the existing back door, maximizing the open cutting space. The plan is structured around three types of screens—temporary, perforated, and solid—each serving both functional and spatial roles. The first is the façade screen, finished by a sign maker in hot-dip galvanized steel, with a full-height door and a low window positioned just below seated eye level to avoid direct eye contact with passersby. The second is a central mirror screen in the cutting space; its horizontal proportions subtly invite the client to look away during treatment. The third is a tile-finished screen enclosing the water area, integrated with the ceiling cassette to distribute airflow.

Openings and gaps are found throughout. The mirror places the far and the near, the back and the front, side by side. Numerous scattered planes engage the eye, and the perceived depth shifts fluidly with each glance.

プライベートヘアサロン「UnowN.」のための内外装計画。

神奈川県横浜市の上大岡駅に近い木造（一部鉄骨造）２階建ての、路面に面した36㎡ほどの一室を改装している。美容師と被施術者が一対一の関係でリラックスしながら対面できるような、気散じを許容するような環境の構築を目標とした。

既存勝手口に水回りを集約的に配置し、ゆとりをもったカットスペースを確保した。3種類の「衝立」がある。まず、看板屋によって仕上げられたファサードの衝立（もっとも典型的な看板下地は溶融亜鉛めっき鋼板だ）。この衝立にはフルハイトの扉と、座した際にギリギリ歩行者と目線が合わない高さの地窓が設けられている。次に、カットスペース中央に配置した鏡の衝立。横長のプロポーションの鏡は、施術時の「よそ見」を誘うものだ。最後に、水回りを仕切るタイル仕上げの衝立は天井カセットと一体化し、空気を分配する。

いたるところに穴や隙間があいている。鏡は遠い場所と近い場所を隣り合わせにする。ばらばらに散らばった無数の平面が目の労働をもたらし、そのたびごとに奥行きが自在に変化する。
